Leah Edelman, Grade 12What the Academy Means to MeIt is 5 to eight- I see my fellow peers running up the stairs anticipating a day of learning and fun. Friends reunite with one another and converse about last night as well as the upcoming assignments. Everyone rushes to Davening before Rabbi Gutstein marks them late. After Davening and breakfast, it is time for morning classes in Lumdei Kodesh: Chumash, Navi, Ivit, AJSP or Talmud. The anticipated lunch break separates the morning classes from the general studies. All too soon it is 5:39 p.m. and another school day comes to an end. This is a typical school day at the Academy excluding all the other details of the wonderful teachers and each and every unique student who in his or her own way adds something different to the school. Ida Crown is the place where one can get an incredible Torah education as well as general studies. Students are given the opportunity of learning both important studies and does not have to compromise one or the other. The subjects I have learned in Ida Crown did not just help me succeed in tests, but more importantly in life itself. As a Jewish young adult, I feel privileged to have the opportunity to learn so many important things that will help me as I strive to be a Bat Yisroel. Every student contributes to the school with his or her distinctive personality. In addition to the learning, another reason that Ida Crown is so special to me are my wonderful friends. The social element of the school contributes to what makes it such a fun and good environment. Ida Crown Jewish Academy means to me: a combination of important, necessary subjects, caring teachers and amazing peers. |
