What's My Story?
Shayna JacobyRigorous CurriculumIda Crown Jewish Academy is committed to providing students with an extensive education, in both Judaic and secular subjects, to best prepare them to meet any obstacles they may face in the world outside of high school. Out of the many classes offered, one of the most rigorous is AP Biology. I had no idea what I was getting into when I signed up for the class. Since I enjoyed biology as a freshman, I assumed that I would be able to manage AP Biology. Nothing could have prepared me for the sheer amount of homework that I was assigned or the intensity of the curriculum. While I thoroughly enjoyed the class, the same could not be said about the homework. My proudest moment at the Academy was when I handed in my AP test, which was the culmination of an entire year of hard work. The surge of happiness and pride that I felt upon completing the exam was indescribable. After being academically challenged more than ever before in my high school career, proving that I had indeed mastered the course material made me aware of how much I accomplished in one short year. The score that I receive on the test is inconsequential because I gained so much more from the class than a trivial grade. AP Biology taught me that perseverance and dedication lead to accomplishment, which is in and of itself the greatest reward possible. Everything I have learned at the Academy, from book knowledge to life skills, will accompany me and help guide me through the uncertain future. This year has been exceptionally full of life lessons, many of which came from AP Bio, and I will take them with me as I enter my adult life. Ida Crown Jewish Academy has provided me with the secure foundation necessary to allow me to move forward into the world and to keep making progress as I continue to grow. |
