Abbott & Fenner Business
Consultants offer a scholarship of up to $1,000 each year to the winner of
their essay contest question: “What have you done outside of the classroom that
demonstrates qualities sought after by universities or other educational
facilities? Of these, which means the most to you?”. This is available to all high school juniors and seniors. Application
deadline is June 18, 2011.
U.S. Bank’s Internet
Scholarship Program provides random drawing scholarships without essays,
GPAs or transcripts. US Bank offers up to 40 $1,000 awards. Online
applications will be accepted through March 31, 2011.
The Joseph Blazek Foundation
has as its sole purpose the awarding of Educational Scholarships to
students desiring to major in engineering, mathematics, chemistry, physics or
related scientific fields. Students must demonstrate the ability and strong
desire to achieve a good record at the college of their choice. The
scholarships will have a minimum value of $500; the amount of each scholarship
will be determined by the Board of Directors. Awards are given annually and
recipients will normally be able to renew each year up to four years. Deadline for application materials is
March 15, 2011.
The Independent Order of Odd
Fellows and Rebekahs of Illinois offers scholarships to deserving students
wishing to continue their education in any post-secondary school or an
accredited vocational/technical school. Applicants need not be members of the

Guardian Life Insurance sponsors
the Girls Going Places Award Program honoring
entrepreneurial girls aged 12 to 18 who are taking the first steps toward
financial independence; and make a difference in their schools and communities.
One $10,000, one $5,000, one $3,000, and twelve $1,000 prizes will be awarded.

Paramount
Tall Club of Chicago offers one $750 scholarship to a graduating senior who
meets the height requirement of the club. The winner of the Chicago Club award

The Washington Crossing
Foundation offers students interested in a career in government service
scholarships ranging from $500 - $10,000. Interested students must submit a
one-page essay stating why they plan a career in government service including
any aspiration to be derived from the leadership of George Washington in his
famous crossing of the Delaware. Students must confine the essay to viewpoint,

AXA Achievement Community
Scholarship the local AXA branches distribute up to twelve $2,000
scholarships. Applicants must be ambitious and motivated, as evidenced by
outstanding achievement in school, community, or work activities. Applicants
must be recommended by an unrelated adult who can attest to the student’s
achievement. The deadline to apply is February 15, 2011.
Scholar Athlete Milk
Mustache of the Year Award: The annual SAMMY scholarship program rewards
high school senior scholar athletes. Judging of the nominees will be based on
academic performance, athletic excellence, leadership, community service, and
milk experience. Twenty-five winners will receive a $7,500 scholarship, trip
for winners and their parents to the SAMMY 2010 Weekend at Disney World in

Japanese American Citizens
League sponsors a number of scholarships based on academic achievement,
financial need, and school/community service. Applicants must be members of
JACL or must join at the time of application, and must plan to attend an
institution of higher learning after high school. Involvement in the JA
community will be considered. In addition, scholarships will be awarded to
those pursuing a variety of disciplines, including the arts. Applications are

Sports Lodge B’nai B’rith offers
scholarships to students of the Jewish faith who are members of high school
varsity sports activities. Applicants will be judged on financial need,
scholarship, athletic ability and community activity.

Illinois Amvets offers
the following scholarships: Service Foundation Scholarship, Sad Sacks
Nursing Scholarship, Junior ROTC Scholarship, Trade School Scholarship, Ladies

The Children of Veterans
Tuition Waiver is a four-year in-state tuition waiver at the University of
Illinois. The recipient may use the waiver at the following campuses:
Urbana-Champaign, Chicago, Health Sciences Center Springfield, or Global
Campus. Up to six tuition waivers are awarded per county – one for each of the
following wars/conflicts: WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Southwest Asia, Operation
Enduring Freedom, or Operation Iraqi Freedom. Applications may be accessed

The National Institute of
Peace Essay Contest offers

The Holland & Knight
Charitable Foundation conducts the Holocaust Remembrance Project Essay
Contest. Ten first place winners
receive scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $5,000. The deadline to enter the contest is April 15, 2011.
The Patient Advocate
Foundation offers twelve $3,000 scholarships to students who have been
diagnosed with cancer or a critical/life threatening disease or illness. Applications must be returned by April 15, 2011
The Chicago Wolves Hockey
Team has created the Tim Breslin Memorial Scholarship for an eligible junior high or high school student.
Selection will be based mostly on a 500-word essay describing a hardship that
the applicant had to overcome and how this affected their life. The award will
pay for one semester at any college or university across the country. There is
a three year mandatory waiting period from the time of the award until the
winning student may use the money. Applications are available in the
scholarship file in room 230. Deadline for applications is
March 1, 2011.
The North Suburban Youth
Foundation (formerly the Optimist Club) offers students a Community
Service Scholarship and an Educational
Grant Scholarship to high school
students in the following communities: Buffalo Grove, Deerfield, Evanston,
Glencoe, Glenview, Highland Park, Kenilworth, Libertyville, Lincolnshire,
Mundelein, Northbrook, Northfield, Park Ridge, Skokie, Vernon Hills, Wilmette,
or Winnetka. Awards range from $1,000 - $2,000. The
deadline to apply is June 1, 2011.
Illinois Society of
Professional Engineers offers two $1,000 scholarships to any high school
senior in north suburban Cook County who will be entering an accredited
engineering school in 2011. Applications must be
received by March 1, 2011.

Columbia College Chicago Presidential
Scholarship is a competitive,
merit-based, four-year scholarship worth $8,000/year. Qualified candidates must
have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and submit samples of their creative work.

University of Michigan
College of Engineering and College of Literature, Science and the Arts offer
the $20,000 Gloria Wille Bell and Carlos R. Bell Scholarship Program to students who have been admitted to the Univ. of
Mich. pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering, mathematics, physics,
computer science or another related scientific field. This renewable
scholarship is available only to students that meet certain geographic
criteria, one of which is graduation from New Trier. Information is available

University of Michigan
School of Engineering offers the Geisinger Scholarship to outstanding out-of-state students based on academic
achievement, activities, awards, and community service. This is a $20,000
renewable award. Students must be admitted to the College of Engineering.

Indiana University Kelley
School of Business Kelley Scholars Program provides full tuition/fees, a living stipend for four

University of Illinois Kathryn
G. Hansen Scholarship competition is
designed for students who are planning to pursue higher education in the office
professional, secretarial, or business-related fields. One scholarship worth

FIDM/Fashion Institute of
Design & Merchandising offers full one-year scholarships to students
who demonstrate exceptional talent and interest in Fashion Design, Visual
Communications, Interior Design, Digital Media, Fashion Merchandising, or
Graphic Design. The scholarship includes tuition, fees, books, and most

Colorado College offers
the Otis A. and Margaret T. Barnes Scholarship in Chemistry and the Margaret T. Barnes Scholarship in the Natural
Sciences and Mathematics. These are
two separate full-tuition scholarship programs, the first to be used for awards
in chemistry (including biochemistry), and the second for awards in biology,
environmental science, geology, mathematics, physics, and psychology (including
neuro-science). Scholarships are awarded primarily for academic merit, though
financial need and non-academic talents are considered. These scholarships are
mutually exclusive. Students may apply for only one. The scholarships are renewable
as long as the student makes satisfactory progress. Additional information can

School of Visual Arts offers
the Silas H. Rhodes scholarship to
students with outstanding creative and academic achievements. The
partial-tuition scholarships are renewable for up to three years. Applicants
must submit a slide portfolio with 20 selections of their art work. Information

Princeton University offers
the Princeton Prize in Race Relations to “recognize, support, and encourage the young people of our country
who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the cause of positive race

The University of Illinois chapter
of the Beta Sigma Psi offers the $1,000 Beta Sigma Psi Lutheran Alumni
Scholarship to a confirmed Lutheran
freshman male beginning study in the fall of 2011. Beta Sigma Psi chapters
located at Purdue, Nebraska-Lincoln, Iowa State, Kansas State, Missouri-Rolla,
Missouri-Columbia, Ohio State, Indiana, Concordia College-New York, and Midland
Lutheran College may also be offering scholarships. Information is available online

Coca-Cola Scholarship
The contest offers $3 million in award money each year to 250 seniors around the country. Check out the details at www.coca-colascholars.org and note that the application deadline is October 31.
Memorial Mathematics Prize
Lander College for Men announces the Jacob Goldfinger Memorial Mathematics Prize for yeshiva high school students. First prize is $1000, 2nd prize is $350, and 3rd prize is $150; prizes will be awarded based on an exam. The application for being considered for the prize is online at www.landermathcontest.org and must be completed by November 15. The website also has information on study materials and procedures.

Everett Kovler Scholars Program
Two Kovler scholarships will be awarded ($10,000 each/per year of study toward a four year undergraduate program) to high school seniors beginning college in the fall of 2011. Presidential Scholarship
Presidential Scholarship for high school seniors who elect to attend Columbia College Chicago as a full-time student in Fall 2011. Award based on academic achievement and/or accomplishment in the student's intended major. Awards of up to $8,000 per academic year, renewed each year for a total of 8 consecutive regular semesters. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA as a full time student.
CRC - The Rabbi Gedalia Dov Schwartz, Shlita- Torah Essay Contest
Open to all seniors in Orthodox Jewish high school programs in Chicago-metro area who will be attending Yeshiva or seminary in Israel for the 2010/2011 academic year. Select a topic in Halacha or TaNaCH to research with the goal of increasing understanding in light of classical Jewish sources.
Essays may be in Hebrew or English, primary sources in original language and formation are preferred over secondary sources and translations. Careful attention to attribution of sources, bibliography.
Panel of judges will evaluate research, organization, creativity, and style.

The Triple Impact Competitor Scholarship Program

The Holocaust Remembrance Project

The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program
Open to students under the age of 20. Awards vary, with the national contestant winner receiving $18,000. The competition begins at the local level.
