Erev Shabbat, Rosh Chodesh Iyar 5780

April 24, 2020

Dear ICJA Family

Shabbat is just a couple of hours away, which brings to close another successful week of learning, teaching, and community.

To all of our teachers and staff, thank you for your commitment to our school, our mission, and, most of all, our students. Your creativity has inspired us, and your willingness to adapt your curriculum to the realities of this new normal is impressive.

To all of our students, thank you for working so hard to learn and to inspire us under these challenging conditions. We know that so much of what you imagined the end of the year would be like will not happen, and we know you are disappointed, and maybe at times even a little scared. But you continue to come to your classes and continue to amaze us with your inquisitiveness, your insights, and your commitment.

To all of our parents, thank you for your understanding and the new roles you have assumed, as the balance of our partnership has shifted, and you are helping us in so many new ways to educate your children. Your confidence in our efforts and your willingness to help structure your child’s day will make a difference in their lives.

Yesterday, many of our families in Skokie experienced an internet outage. Some of our teachers were affected by this, as well. While we are used to the videoconferencing of zoom, this platform can also support teleconferencing. In the coming days, we will be adding a “tab” to the google sheet with all of the teachers’ zoom accounts that will also have phone access numbers – just in case. But also, if this happens, please let us know by emailing cnylund@icja.org.

The plans for next week continue to move forward, and we are very excited for all of the ways we will be able to celebrate Israel and commemorate those who gave their lives so that we can benefit from its existence.

On Monday night and Tuesday night at 8pm our Kollel will be hosting communal events – https://www.youtube.com/user/kollel613.
