Dear ICJA Family:

It’s the third day of “National “Teacher Appreciation Week,” and this morning, our teachers have received gift cards from the Academy Associates, and notes from parents thanking them. On behalf of all of them, I thank Academy Associated chair, Leslie Wortman for coordinating this effort. It was very kind and so meaningful!

I began my morning with Rabbi Gross’ 9th grade Talmud class – not while they were learning, but while they were davening before school with their teacher. As a spectator on the side, it was inspiring. But other teachers and students do the same – beginning their morning davening together on zoom. Yaasher koach to Rabbi Gross and all of our inspiring teachers!

And while I’m at it, Dr. Green reports that her students’ presentations in her bioethics class were terrific. The topics they tackled and the research they did was meaningful and impressive!

Tomorrow at noon, I will be having a 9th-grade girls Town Hall meeting in my “zoom room.” I look forward to once again interacting with our students and hope that many of the girls will attend. (Seniors – please don’t forget our class meeting on Friday, also scheduled for noon!)

Earlier today, Rabbi Fliegelman informed our 11th grade class, that based on the new guidelines from the State, we will not be offering the June SCT. However, we do hope to be able to offer the ACT in July, with the necessary safety and health precautions in place. Stay tuned for more information.

While there still is a month of school, finals are rapidly approaching. Click to view the Final Schedule for Grades 9-11. You’ll notice that this year, teachers will have a lot more flexibility in scheduling their finals. The reason for this is because most of our teachers are planning an alternative assessment and not a standard test. Therefore, students – please make sure you speak with your teachers to better understand their plans for the end of the year.

Tomorrow’s schedule is as follows:

Period 1: 9:30 – 10:10 a.m.

Period 5: 10:15 – 10:55 a.m.

Period 6: 11:00 – 11:40 a.m.

Break

Period 7: 1:00 -1:40 p.m.

Period 8: 1:45 – 2:25 p.m.

Period 9: 2:30 – 3:10 p.m.

Stay Safe, Stay Healthy and Stay Inspired!

B’virkat HaTorah,

LAM

Rabbi Leonard A. Matanky, Ph.D.
