The Aces defeated Harper, 17-2 on May 17 in the IHSA regional baseball game. As the #4 seed, the ICJA Aces prepared for their game against the six-seeded Harper with freshman Gabe Burstyn taking the mound in only his third start of the season.  Earlier in the week, Zack Paskoff returned to the lineup after battling injuries and took his position behind the plate.  Burstyn earned the win for the Aces, lasting three innings and allowing zero hits and one run while striking out five. Burstyn not only got the win but started the scoring in the first with a fielders choice. The offensive caught fire in the fourth inning with RBI’s from  Ami Greenberg, Zeke Zwelling, and Sammy Schwartz.

Daniel Garland – Stern threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. The Aces ended up totaling nine hits in the game. Schwartz went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead ICJA in hits.

The Aces moved onto the second round to face the Hope Academy Eagles and had to forfeit.  IHSA and the Eagles made accomodations that were very generous but in the end it was not feasible to try to force the game.

It is now onto the Columbus Baseball Invitational (The Jewish World Series) for the Aces to defend their title.  The first game is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 5:30ET with Sammy Schwartz taking the hill.  We welcome all to watch the games at https://www.torahacademy.org/cbi/cbi-channel-live-stream/
