On Tuesday, the entire ICJA student body bore witness to Hamas brutal October 7, 2023 attack on the Nova music festival as they visited the Nova Exhibition Chicago.

Students spent an hour wandering through the exhibit, viewing physical remains salvaged from the festival grounds, including scorched cars, bullet-ridden bathroom stalls, and personal belongings that were left behind. They viewed myriad videos showing footage from the attack and interviews with survivors and rescue personel.

After viewing the exhibit, students heard personal testimonies. Juniors and seniors heard from Ariel Ohana, a Nova survivor who spoke movingly about her escape and the lasting impact it has had on her life. Freshmen and sophomores listened to Elad Glazer, whose brother Rononie was murdered at Nova, as he described his family’s search and their ongoing resilience.

Thanks to Mrs. Gold and Mrs. Bromberg for preparing our students so thoughtfully, and to all our teachers who accompanied us and facilitated the meaningful conversations that followed the visit.
