Dear ICJA Family:
Another day, another opportunity to get nachas from our students… Let’s start with Sammy Moscovitch, one of our graduating seniors, who was featured online at the “Skokie Patch” – click here to read the article. And then there are the girls in Mrs. Pogonitz’s freshman Navi class who just finished their 5th book of Nevi’im this year (Yehoshua, Shoftim, Yonah, Esther, and Rut). What a great accomplishment – especially finishing the Book of Ruth just in time for Shavuot!
Several students have been looking into summer school options. As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, there are two excellent options that we have shared with everyone, the YU Summer School and Lookstein Summer School (the links are below). This year, we are making an exception and allowing students to take the Modern Jewish History course at Lookstein in place of our regular course. (The rule for outside courses is that generally they cannot replace core requirements – see here for the Outside Coursework Policy). In addition, if you plan to attend any other summer school program and want to receive ICJA credit, PLEASE make sure to check with Rabbi Fliegelman (firstname.lastname@example.org) before enrolling, because not all courses at all institutions are accepted for credit.
On a completely different note – we have to make a change in a plan we announced just a few days ago. We had planned to have all students pick up their things during the week of June 8th and have the teachers do so the following week. We will be switching weeks – students will now be picking up their things the week of June 15. The reason for the change is two-fold: 1) to wait until after finals so that students can also use this opportunity to return their textbooks, and 2) the yearbooks are coming, and we will be able to the yearbooks with the other items from student lockers. By the way – if you haven’t ordered your yearbook, it’s still not too late – click here.
