Dear ICJA Family:
Today began with one of the most touching Yom HaZikaron ceremonies that I can remember, all because of the participation of Rabbi Ephraim Rimel. Rabbi Rimel, who is still in the Rehab Center at Sheba Hospital, spoke beautifully about the meaning of this day, about the loses he has known and the inspiration he has gained. If you weren’t able to join us, you can watch his presentation beginning at the 6:00-minute mark, HERE .
Not long after the ceremony (but after I had a chance to teach my Talmud class), I also held the first of two weekly faculty Town Hall meetings. It was great seeing colleagues, albeit on screen, but even better hearing some of the ways they are going above and beyond to help our students. Many of the teachers are adding online office hours, and all of them are ready to help students in any way possible. If there is some way that one of our teachers can help a student, please reach out and ask. They will do everything possible to make a difference!
One of the ideas that came out of last week’s town hall meeting was creating a phone option for students to call into classes just in case their internet was down. That list is now available as a secondary tab at https://icja.us/zoom.
Every year, Yom HaAtzmaut is one of the highlights of our in-school programs. While we are not “in school” in a traditional sense, we are not holding back on this year’s Yom HaAtzmaut celebration! For our students, the schedule will start at 9:30 – they’ve all received a separate email from me earlier today with the student links. And students, remember to wear blue and white! For the community, we invite you at 10:00 am to hear Racheli Frankel, Consul General Aviv Ezra, and the 11:00 am concert with Israeli singing sensation, Ishay Ribo! Tune in to our Facebook LIVE channel to watch – CLICK HERE.
Tomorrow’s program will occupy the entire morning – so the schedule will be as follows:
Assembly: 9:30 – 11:40a.
Period 10: 1:00 -1:40p.
Period 11: 1:45 – 2:25p.
Period 12: 2:30 – 3:10p.
Earlier today, all of the girls at ICJA should have received an email about a great ICGC Mothers Day Program – a Virtual Paint Night. The program will be at 8 pm on May 10, but girls need to register by this Thursday, April 30th in order to receive via the mail – a canvas, brushes, and paint. Click here to register.
Next week, on May 5th will be a special “Grandparents Night” with world-renowned mentalist Eran. But it’s not just for grandparents, parents and children can also join in, and here is the zoom link.
And finally, kudos to our Tanach teacher and tech coordinator, Mrs. Olivia Friedman. This past week, the Legacy Heritage Instructional Leadership Institute reached out to her to learn more about how to create alternative assessments for Judaic Studies. Following a successful consultation, the Institute plans to share Olivia’s knowledge with their TECs (Tanakh Educator Consultants and Talmud Torah Educator Consultants). Once again, ICJA and our teachers lead the way!
Stay Safe, Stay Inspired, and Celebrate Israel!
