How do Enzymes Work?

Freshmen in Mr. Peter Sahyouni’s Biology classes are learning about enzyme catalyzed reactions, biochemical processes where enzymes facilitate chemical reactions by lowering the activation energy required.

Students discussed how enzymes in our body bind to other molecules to either break them down or build smaller molecules up into larger ones. Students also learned how temperatures and pH affect the rate at which enzymes work.
