A 1965 graduate of ICJA, Dr. Sam Sugar has dedicated his time advocating for those unable to advocate for themselves.  A former faculty member of Northwestern University Medical School and Chicago Medical School, Dr. Sugar currently lives in Florida with his wife Judy.  He’s a founder of Americans Against Abusive Probate Guardianship and has written about guardianship abuse.

Ida Crown was instrumental in shaping Dr. Sugar to be an activist who works for others.  “More than anything else, what the Academy imparted to me is a sense of right and wrong,” he recalls.  “I’ve been involved in many Jewish causes and philanthropies…  All of those are important aspects of my life – and they are a continuation of my experiences as a young man in high school.”

Dr. Sugar is proud that all of his children attended ICJA.  “It taught me the beauty of an observant lifestyle” he says of his high school years.
