Hachnasat Sefer Torah!
On Monday, August 25, our entire ICJA community came together for an all-school special Rosh Chodesh Shacharit, followed by a gala Hachnasat Sefer Torah celebration! Irwin ’66 and Deedie ’68 (Dorothy) Gold, grandparents of sophomore Chavi Campbell, donated a Sefer Torah in memory of their parents, Rabbi William and Rose Gold, and Kivi and Pearl Hirsch.
In the midst of davening, the Golds brought the Sefer Torah into the gym. When it reached the front of the room, music started up and the entire student body began dancing with great ruach. It was a fun and meaningful way to begin a new year of learning. Afterwards, students leined from the new Sefer Torah. The morning concluded with a a doughnut breakfast to celebrate Rosh Chodesh Elul and with candy provided by the Gold family.
Mazal tov the entire Gold family – May you and our students gain years of nachat from this incredible gift.
