On Thursday, August 21 over 70 new ICJA students arrived at ICJA to meet their new classmates, teachers, and administrators, tour the school, and learn about Ida Crown.

After a welcome from the senior administrators in the school, incoming freshmen divided into smaller groups to play icebreaker games and learn with Mechanchim. Incoming transfer students met with College Guidance Counselor Ms. Susan Weiss and Head of Director of Student Social Services Mrs. Rebecca Bromberg, MSW, LCSW. Following Mincha, students met with their Senior Leaders, students who will show them around and help them get acclimated to Ida Crown. Senior Leaders reviewed schedules with their new students, showed students where their lockers are located, answered questions, and conducted a building tour. The Open House concluded with a fun pizza dinner in the cafeteria.

While students were learning about ICJA, their parents attended an optional “Genius Bar” to learn about Canvas, 360, and iPad questions, led by Tanach teacher and Ed Tech expert Rabbi Binyomin Segal and by Assistant Dean for Learning and Instruction Mrs. Chavee Gottlieb. Following the Genius Bar, parents of new students enjoyed a gala parent dinner with ICJA Dean Rabbi Leonard Matanky in the Math/Science Commons.

Thank you to all the students, staff, and others who made this event such a success, in particular Director of Admissions Mrs. Suzy Nussbaum, who organized the student and parent events.
