Chavee (Summer) Gottlieb joined ICJA in 2008 and has been an integral part of the school community ever since. She earned a B.S. in Chemistry and Natural Science from Loyola University Chicago, an M.S. in Chemistry from Northeastern Illinois University, and an Ed.M. in Teacher Leadership from Brandeis University. In addition, she is a trained mentor for new teachers through the Jewish New Teacher Project. At ICJA, Chavee has served as Chair of the Science Department, teaches Chemistry, and currently holds the role of Assistant Dean for Learning and Instruction.

Guided by her educational philosophy, Chavee is passionate about helping students develop the ability to make evidence-based claims. “My goal is to support my students in making meaningful connections between the observable world and the scientific principles that govern it,” she shares.

Chavee lives in Chicago with her husband and four children: “I am grateful for the outstanding education my children have received here at ICJA.”
