Tu Bishvat Yom Iyun
On Tu Bishvat, Monday, February 2, students enjoyed a meaningful and fun Yom Iyun with fellows from the YU Torah Mitzion Kollel Chicago. Working in small groups, students held educational sedarim with Kollel fellows, learning about each of the sheva minnim, including the halacha of making of brachot and the deeper mystical meaning behind various fruits.
Students enjoyed sampling the sheva minnim – figs, dates, pomegranates, olives, grapes, wheat, and barley – and asking questions about Tu Bishvat and other topics. Some classes played Tu Bishvat trivia games, challenging themselves to identify different brachot, minhagim, and Jewish concepts.
