Strong Season for Aces Baseball

The Aces are having great season, despite the unusually cold playing weather. Although the team lost 7-6 against Hope Academy on Wednesday night, they were undefeated going into the game.

Seth Greenberg did all he could to give the Aces a boost in the first loss of the season, but it wasn’t enough to get past the team, as the Aces lost 7-6 in seven innings at Hope.

Greenberg did his best to jump start the offense for the Aces, reaching base three times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the fifth inning.

The Aces on Monday, April 27  jumped out to an early lead on Ellison and captured a 17-7 victory at Laramie.

With 13 runs in the first three innings, the Aces left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI single by Seth Greenberg in the first inning and, an RBI double by Jeremy Sweer, a fielder’s choice, and a two-run single by Greenberg during the second inning helped the Aces put some runs on the board early.

Noah Aberman put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for Ida Crown. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the fourth and fifth innings.

Amitai Kolom looked sharp on the hill. Kolom gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out six during his four innings of work.

The Aces increased their lead with six runs in the third. Noah Aberman started the inning with a single, bringing home Ben Rosenblum. That was followed up by Avi Braun’s single, plating Noah Aberman and Zack Cooper.

The Aces quickly matched Ellison’s strong inning with a two-run inning of their own in the fourth.

Last week, on Tuesday, April 21, the Aces and Chicagoland Jewish High School both threatened with rallies, but it was the ICJA that eventually took advantage of them in an 8-4 win at Laramie.

Chicagoland Jewish High School got 11 hits compared with just nine for the Ida Crown Aces Varsity, but Chicagoland Jewish High School stranded nine on base.

Roni Allswang racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Ida Crown Aces Varsity. He singled in the first and fifth innings and doubled in the sixth inning.

Avi Asher got the win for the Aces. He allowed four runs over seven innings. Avi Asher struck out 10, walked one and gave up 11 hits.

#12 couldn’t get it done on the hill for Chicagoland Jewish High School, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in 5 1/3 innings, walked none and struck out four.

The Aces jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Noah Jaffe singled to ignite the ICJA’s offense. A stolen base then moved Noah Jaffe from first to second. Max Baker singled, bringing home Noah Jaffe. More runs came home for the Aces when Baker scored on a steal of home.

The Aces never trailed after scoring one run in the third on an RBI triple by Josh Goldrich and then pushing across two runs in both the fifth inning and the sixth. In the fifth, the Aces scored on an RBI double by Seth Greenberg, plating Allswang.

One run in the top of the seventh helped CJ close its deficit to 8-4. An RBI double by #11 fueled CJ’s comeback.
