Writers, poets and artists selected among the ICJA student body gathered on April 30 for the release of this year’s Charlotte’s Web: The Literary Magazine of ICJA. Under the leadership of faculty advisor, Mrs. Marsha Arons, and student editors, the annual publication features poetry, prose, photography, painting and pencil drawings.

This year’s publication focuses on the theme of reality vs. illusion of the mind and is edited by Tzippy David, Oriya Falk, Taliah Soleymani and Abigail Brasch. The book is annually dedicated to the long-time beloved ICJA English teacher, Mrs. Charlotte Rosenwald a”h.

Award-Winning Publication

The Charlotte’s Web magazine annually ranks among the top high school literary magazines in the State of Illinois from the NCTE’s Program to Recognize Excellence in Literary Magazines (National Council of Teachers of English).

What’s perhaps most astounding about the high rank of our literary magazine is that the contest is not divided by school size, so that ICJA’s small student body of under 300 competes with some of the largest schools in the state. Students submit work to the magazine’s editors throughout the school year, and the book is completed each spring to showcase ICJA’s writers, poets, artists, photographers and graphic designers.

We gratefully acknowledge the generous contribution of The Susan and Joseph Ament Endowment Fund. This foundation has enabled the students of ICJA to showcase their best literary efforts in a public forum. Thank you for enabling young writers to shine.
