Students in advanced art this spring are collaborating to create a mural on a pomegranate for the upcoming Greater Chicago Jewish Festival on Sunday, June 5, Yom Yerushalayim. ICJA is one of several groups or individuals who purchased the blank pomegranate to decorate and display at the festival.

The fiberglass pomegranate sculpture park to appear at the festival is similar to the famous “Cows on Parade” display in Chicago in 1999, which was replicated in cities worldwide since then.

The ICJA students worked to develop a theme for the piece, “Joy, Unity, Family,” and then all collaborated to paint it. The pomegranate will be on display at the festival next week and then will return to ICJA, where we will display it as well.

Well done, art students!
