Standing up for Israel at City Hall

Over 100 ICJA juniors and seniors attended the October Chicago City Council meeting this week. Former ICJA parent Alderman Debra Silverstein called for a moment of silence to remember the victims of Hamas’ October 7, 2023 attack on Israel, and acknowledged Ida Crown Jewish Academy and other Jewish groups who were present in the City Council chamber to support her motion. It was an intensely emotional moment as we rose and remembered the over 1,200 Israelis who lost their lives on that day, the 251 people who were kidnapped into Gaza, and the over 100 hostages who remain imprisoned in Gaza today. We are so proud of our students for being present and for standing up for Israel here in Chicago at this important moment.
