Yom HaAtzmaut 5785
Today’s Yom HaAztmaut celebrations at Ida Crown were wonderful!
Students enjoyed a meaningful all-school davening, followed by a celebratory breakfast. They were joined by Consul General of Israel to the Midwest Yinam Cohen, who spoke about Israel and shared his thoughts about developments in Israel today. Afterwards, Consul General Cohen distributed Israel-themes swag to ICJA’s seniors and noted that “I always love coming to Ida Crown and meeting the Jewish leaders of tomorrow.”
The weather cooperated with us enough to allow students to have fun outdoors after the Consul General’s talk. Students enjoyed camel rides, an inflatable obstacle course, train rides, and visiting with each other and their teachers.
Inside, ICJA was transformed into a mini-Israel. Students enjoyed interactive Israel-themed activities including making and drinking delicious “Aroma” coffee and smoothies, baking pita, making hummus, creating art in an “Artists’ Colony” corner, learning Torah in a “Bedouin tent,” decorating hands with henna, and more. Mrs. Kochava Yitzhak tied mipachtot; Mrs. Julie Thomas and Mrs. Julie Avner helped students create an Israel-themed mosaic; and Rabbi Rosenbaum learned with students.
Thank you to all the students and teachers who made this event so successful. Thank you, Mrs. Alissa Zeffren, for organizing the entire celebration.
Thank you to the Gertz family for sponsoring ICJA’s amazing Yom HaAtzmaut celebrations in memory of Doris and Paul Rosenberg.
